May 17 and 18, 2008 at Wingfield Park
The Sierra Nevada Whitewater Club will be hosting their annual Truckee River Races on May 17th and 18th.Â
Events:Â
Downriver Race: There will be a Class II Downriver race on Saturday, at 3:00. A paddlers’ meeting will be at 2 pm at Wingfield Park. The Downriver race is open to all types of craft, including: kayaks, canoes, rafts, catarafts, and inner tubes. The race starts at Chrissy Caughlin Park and ends at Fisherman’s Park.

Slalom Races: The class II slalom course will be set up in the south channel of the fabulous Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park. The course will be open for practice runs all day Saturday. The race will start promptly at 9:30 am on Sunday, with the racers’ meeting at 8:30 am at Wingfield Park. Please note that all participants will need to help with gate judging and timing.

Where:
The Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park (where Arlington Street crosses the Truckee River).
Take Highway 80 to the Virginia Street exit and go south to First Street; turn left on First Street and go west 2 lights to Arlington St. Turn left (south) across the River. The first right or second right will have the best places to park.Â

Registration and Cost:
Participants must register Saturday at Wingfield Park between 9 am and 1 pm. The fee is $15.00 and $1.00 for each additional event.Â
